Why Brighton boss Graham Potter believes Sheffield United's Chris Wilder should be manager of the year

Graham Potter, the Brighton and Hove Albion boss, has become the latest to praise Chris Wilder – insisting the Sheffield United manager should be up there with the candidates for the Premier League’s manager of the year gong.

Wilder has led his Blades to sixth in the top flight table and, with 12 games left, they are in the race to secure European football for the first time in their history.

The first of those 12 games comes tomorrow, against Brighton at Bramall Lane.

And Potter, who joined the Seagulls from Swansea, said: “He [Wilder] has taken [United] on an amazing rise in the last few years.

“They’ve worked on how they want to play for a few years now and developed a core group throughout, so they have a real clarity and identity and – most importantly for me – a belief that they can achieve.

“That’s what we’re fighting to do. Chris has done a fantastic job and should be one of the candidates for manager of the year for what he’s achieved.”
