Sheffield United will help kick-off ‘Project Restart’ after it was confirmed that the Blades’ match against Aston Villa will be one of two Premier League games that will mark the return of top-flight football following the Cobid-19 pandemic shutdown.

Chris Wilder’s side will travel to Villa Park on June 17 on the same evening Manchester City take on Arsenal.

A Premier League meeting took place on Thursday where an agreement was reached to begin again on this date, which would make it just over a full three months since football was brought to a halt.

"But this date cannot be confirmed until we have met all the safety requirements needed, as the health and welfare of all participants and supporters is our priority.”

It was also revealed that all remaining matches will be made available to view, with the Premier League’s broadcast partners all showing some.

Masters added: "Sadly, matches will have to take place without fans in stadiums, so we are pleased to have come up with a positive solution for supporters to be able to watch all the remaining 92 matches.

"The Premier League and our clubs are proud to have incredibly passionate and loyal supporters. It is important to ensure as many people as possible can watch the matches at home.

"We will continue to work step-by-step and in consultation with all our stakeholders as we move towards resuming the 2019-20 season."

Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime will all broadcast games.

It is understood that 64 of the 92 remaining fixtures will be shown on SKy Sports, with 25 of those free-to-air.
