It’s taken a while… much longer than anyone anticipated but Sheffield United picked up their first win over the season, coming in the FA Cup against Bristol Rovers.

United had taken the lead early on through an own goal by the Rovers keeper after a header from Lys Mousset struck the bar.

Alfie Kilgour equalised to make it 1-1 at the break and then came a frantic second half period.

Substitute Oliver Burke stroked in his first goal in a Blades shirt but Max Ehmer equalised a cople of minutes later.

However, almost immediately Jayden Bogle put United back in front and after a thoroughly entertaining third round cup tie, Chris Wilder’s men kept the scores that way to register the manager’s 100th win in charge of his boyhood club.

And Blades fans wer delighted to be spending their weekend’s with a victory after so long.

@LWCon_86 posted on twitter: “Doesn’t matter who against or in what circumstances, winning after going so long without could be massive. Completely changes the mood in the camp, and some players did really well. Also created enough chances to be out of sight. A good days work and a ‘proper cup tie’ too.”

And @FletchRadio posted: “A win is all that matters. It should have been more. Much more. Gifted them their goals. But a win is a win. Will it be a turning point? Possibly. Possibly not. Who knows. Tonight I don’t really care. Just happy not to have that losing feeling.”

Finally, @DanKhan_5 forsees a lift in fortunes. He said: “We’re back!!! Boom!!!”
