And while the Blades managed to pick up their first point of this Premier League season after Billy Sharp’s late penalty cancelled out Ademola Lookman’s opener for the visitors, it will be seen as two points dropped.

United missed a host of first half chances, particularly through Oli McBurnie and were left to rue those, with a point the best they could do against another of the division’s strugglers.

Blades fans recognised the missed opportunities but also feel that Chris Wilder’s team are finding it tough without a Bramall Lane backing.

@peteofsheffield wrote on twitter: “Don’t expect much if owt out of next 3 games. Season now Will show who has character and who hasn’t and top managers are judged on how they get teams out of the s***e and turn it around. It’s not over until it’s over, tide will turn sufficient to be better than 3 clubs.”

@NickChatts added: “Struggling with my last bit of optimism at the moment. Don’t finish your chances you get punished even against the Fulham’s of our division. But we’ve created those chances end of the day, they will go in but hopefully sooner rather then later.”

Some felt United appeared tired, with @parkswords saying: “Ramsdale MOTM. Berge tired. After an international break, we looked so leggy. Fulham should have won easily in the end. McBurnie takes that chance in the first half, different game. Our biggest concern is creativity from midfield. If you let Freeman go, has to be replaced”

@Trev_Allison said: “I'm struggling to be positive about #sufc at the minute, we're in it big time! It's ok saying get behind the team but how can you do that when we can't be at the game!!”

Missed chances were what bothered@adz6786: “Should’ve been out of sight by half time. Our own worse enemy at the minute. 39 more points to go.”

And @ryanmathews1893: “People keep saying its early days we've played Leeds Villa and Fulham and scored one goal I love Mcburnie but chance after chance he needs to be dropped Didsy and Brewster up top next game.”

@Nathan_sufc21 said: “Not happy with a point against Fulham at home! we should have done more than that! it’s hard to be positive about our season so far and beyond that!I feel really worried about our season after today!we are in big trouble and I am being honest as a blade.”

@ryanhobson7 made the point about the soulless stadiums: “We desperately need the fans back in the ground. Lads were out on their feet today. Needed a lift. Still gotta do better in front of goal. Awful finishing. Relegation battle season.”

And @PavlovLore said: “It's worrying that we didn't have that game wrapped up by half time. The chances gone begging against one of the worst defences I've ever seen us play against were unbelievable. At times we opened them up like a Sunday league side.”
