McGoldrick grabbed a late winner for United in a standout performance which also saw him claim an assist for the game's opener. Billy Sharp and Chris Basham had put United 2-0 ahead, before Preston hit back to 2-2 - and McGoldrick converted the winner, sending Bramall Lane into raptures.

After a now-trademark kneeslide, Henderson ended up in the fans in the G and H blocks of the South Stand and after giving his gloves away to a fan at the final whistle, replied to a tweet from Preston fan Ben Winstanley, which read "Worst haircut in the championship goes to Dean Henderson."

The goalkeeper's reply was simple. "[The] three points go to Sheff U," with a kissing face emoji for good measure.

"There is probably nothing more important in a club than all the lads being tight, sticking together, being friends and wanting to do well for each other and wanting success for each other," he said.

"And obviously, there's the manager on top of that. Me and John Egan are always making jokes when he says 'come on.' But you will run through brick walls for him as you know how passionate he is and how much he wants the club to do well. It is outstanding. Seriously."
