The youngster, who made the move to Everton from United in the summer for a fee of around £1.6m, scored the first at Goodison as the hosts ran riot.

Tom Davies, Calvert-Lewin's pal, set up the goal from a great pass from Ross Barkley and Calvert-Lewin said: “You couldn’t have wrote it better. He’s got down the line - I’ve seen he’s put the ball in and I’ve tried to get to the far post.

"It’s missed a few players and it fell to me. I couldn’t have wished for a better opportunity.

"I didn’t really know what I was doing on the celebration! I’m just over the moon.”

“Our home form has been really good this season and we look to continue it every time we play at Goodison," he added.

"I think the fans have got a big part to play in that and they help us every game. They drive us forward and push us on."
