Tigers boosted by cup victory

Have your say

SHEFFIELD head to Leicester tonight buoyed by Thursday’s stunning victory over Newcastle.

Tigers produced their best performance of the year to beat their highly-fancied opponents by 26 points in the Knockout Cup

Joint team manager David Hoggart was delighted to see his side fire at the same time and wants the same at Beaumont Park tonight, saying: “We have started to show the promise that we all knew was there and everyone is clicking at the same time now.

“Ricky Wells has been awesome in our last two meetings and you wouldn’t bet against him carrying that on.

“From one to seven, the boys have been outstanding recently.

“We’re winning well at home but now we want to start getting some points away and that starts at Leicester on Saturday.”

As well as taking on Leicester this evening, the city side travel to the North-east tomorrow to try and seal their passage to the KO Cup semi-finals.

Hoggart, warning against complacency, added: “Of course we have amassed a fantastic lead and have given ourselves an excellent platform, but we absolutely must not get complacent.”
