This is how much Sheffield United's new signing Jack Rodwell will cost you on Fantasy Premier League

Sheffield United announced their first signing of the January transfer window last week, with free agent Jack Rodwell being snapped up after he failed to secure a contract with Serie A outfit Roma.

Much like summer signing Ravel Morrison, Blades boss Chris Wilder has brought in a player fallen from grace, giving them the opportunity to revive their career with Premier League football at Bramall Lane.

Fantasy Premier League have now added Rodwell to their database of players, and if you want to add him to your squad, it'll set you back a rather tempting £4.5m.

The problem is, however, in a mirror-image of FPL's infamous John Lundstram error, Rodwell has been listed as a midfielder rather than a defender, despite him being more likely to be a rotation option in Wilder's back-line.

For those uninitiated in the finer details of the popular online game, defenders earn more points for goals, clean sheets, and assists than midfielders, which would see United's new signing underscored if he remains in a defensive role.

The 28-year-old was handed his debut last weekend, when a weakened Blades side fought hard for a 2-1 win over Conference Premier side A.F.C Fylde. It will be interesting to see how he develops at the club, and whether he’s able to force his way into the first team on a regular basis over the coming months.
