Revealed: The summer signings who spent most time on the bench - including FOUR Sheffield United players

Despite Premier League clubs spending a total of £1.64bn on new signings in the last 12 months, Football Index has found new signings spent an average of 46% of their available time warming the bench.

Just a third (32%) of new players spend an average of 60 minutes on the pitch, and half (47%) averaged less than 45 minutes per game.

In total, new Premier League signings spent the equivalent of 77 days, 16 hours and 50 minutes on the bench this season. In comparison, new players spent the equivalent of 97 days, 16 hours and 10 minutes on the pitch.
