Given the continued uncertainty surrounding Dean Henderson’s future - the former United loanee is set to hold further talks with his parent club Manchester United over the weekend - Wilder has been linked with a move for AFC Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale while Trabzonspor’s Ururgan Cakir continues to be linked with a move to Bramall Lane by the Turkish media.

After describing Ward, who has helped transform Henderson into one of the country’s finest goalkeepers during his two years in South Yorkshire, as the “best” specialist coach in the game, Wilder revealed how his colleague’s input helped pave the way for Wes Foderingham’s arrival in South Yorkshire last month.

“Darren had a lot of input into that,” Wilder said. “I value his opinion on matters like this a lot because he’s the best for me."
