The Magpies took Arsenal to extra-time in the FA Cup on Saturday evening, but were ultimately left disappointed following late goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
However, Newcastle are still expected to carry some freshness about them after a number of key players were rested, or had reduced minutes at the Emirates.
Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, Jonjo Shelvey and Callum Wilson sat out completely, though the latter two was enforced.
Bruce is anticipating a tough game against the Blades, who hope to build on their first of the season at Bristol Rovers at the weekend.
He said: “Sheffield United, although they prop up the table, are a very good side still. We’ll have to be at our best to beat them.”
Check out how Newcastle could line-up this evening at Bramall Lane:
1. Karl Darlow
Last season’s number one Martin Dubravka is fit and raring to go but Darlow has more than shown his worth in the Slovakian's absence.

2. DeAndre Yedlin
Played his way back into Steve Bruce’s starting XI over the Christmas period, despite speculation surrounding his future.

3. Federico Fernandez
Bruce confirmed the Argentine was left out of Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Arsenal in preparation for tonight’s game at Bramall Lane.

4. Fabian Schar
Like Fernandez, Schar was given the night off at the Emirates, so will provide more freshness in the backline.
