Magpies winger Allan Saint-Maximin has been his team's standout performer in an otherwise underwhelming season, so here's a look at how the 22-year-old could hurt the Blades this weekend.

How are his stats looking?

He's scored three goals and provided two assists in all competitions, and has been the key man in his side's progression to the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2006.

Of course, it's not all about goals and assists - only four top tier players have attempted more dribbles than him this season, highlighting him as the focal point of Newcastle's attack.

Which United players will he directly in contest with?

George Baldock will be tasked with keeping the Frenchman quiet, while Chris Basham will also see a fair bit of the nippy winger on the right side of Chris Wilder's solid back three.

How did he get on last time out against United?

He took just 15 minutes to get on the scoresheet at Bramall Lane, comprehensively out-jumping Basham to power a towering header beyond Dean Henderson.

However, he lost possession more times (eight) than any other player on the field and was restricted to a mere five dribbles - only three of which were successful.

Where have his standout games been this season?

He's generally produced his best performances away from home. Indeed, he scored the winning goal in his side's 1-0 victory at Southampton last weekend.

The former OGC Nice man played a big part in the Magpies' shock 1-0 home win over Chelsea, with a pinpoint cross picking out Isaac Hayden, who nodded in the decisive goal.

How can the Blades combat their opponent?

Teams who successfully negate his attacking threat - Aston Villa and Manchester City are standout examples - generally do so by closing him down in pairs, and dispossessing him with firm but fair tackles.

Saint-Maximin is a player who loves to dazzle, and United will be eager to dispossess him mid-showboat, and launch a clinical counter-attack should an opportunity present itself.
