So, with it being St Patrick’s Day we thought it was the perfect opportunity to take a look at some of the Irishmen who have starred for United.
5. Callum Robinson, 2019 to present
Robinson played for the England under 16, under 17 and under 19 sides before switching to the Republic of Ireland after qualifying through his Monaghan-born grandmother. He made his debut for the Irish in September 2018 in the 4-1 defeat to Wales in the UEFA Nations League. 6. Scott Hogan, 2019 (on loan from Aston Villa)
Salford-born Hogan is eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland via his two Irish grandparents and made his senior debut in March 2018 in a 1-0 friendly defeat to Turkey. Photo: Jan Kruger
7. Keith Gillespie, 2005-2009
Gillespie is currently sixth place in the list of appearances for Northern Ireland with 86 caps. He made his debut in September 1994 in a 2-1 home defeat by Portugal. His final cap was won in a 2-0 defeat by Hungary at Windsor Park in November 2008. Photo: PAUL ELLIS
8. Derek Geary, 2004-2010
The Dublin-born full-back didn't make the step up to international football. Now retired, Geary clocked up 94 appearances for the Blades in a career which started across the city at Wednesday, where he spent seven years between 1997 and 2004 before a short stint at Stockport County.
