Sky pundit issues verdict on Sheffield Utd target, Relegation rivals offered chance to sign French top flight duo - Transfer recap

Sheffield United desperately need a spark to kick-start their ailing season.

The Blades have struggled to rekindle the exceptional form that saw them take the Premier League by storm last term, and Chris Wilder’s men are still yet to pick up a win in the league this term.

They did, however, record a battling victory over Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup at the weekend, and the hope will be that it can give their campaign a much-needed jolt.

Another key component in getting United back on track could be some savvy business in the transfer window, and one man who has been linked consistently is Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and the Blades are favourites to sign him at odds of just 2/1.

Earlier in the day, Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith also talked up the prospect of Lingard leaving the north west this month, telling the Football Show: "You just think a move away, a fresh start, will really do him the world of good."

Whether the England internatonal is of the same opinion remains to be seen.
