This season, Sheffield United's promotion to the Premier League has seen them feature in Mark Lawrenson's weekly prediction piece for BBC Sport, and we've been following it with some interest since the 2019/20's first bill of matches back in August.

Following this week's latest prediction, a 2-0 loss at Molineux, the Blades would be all the way down in 19th with just seven points, if all thirteen predictions this season had been correct.

In reality, United have more than doubled their predicted points tally, having racked up 18 of them while keeping one of the best defensive records in the division.

To be fair to Lawro, he has given the Blades a lot of praise this season - and a lot earlier than the majority of previously critical pundits, many of whom changed their tune in light of the Blades' stunning impact on the top tier.

Interestingly, his predictions would see Liverpool – the club he spent the majority of his playing career with – in second place, as he’s predicted Manchester City to pick up 36 points to their 35. However, he’s still yet to back the Reds to lose a single matche so far this season.
