The Sun claims the former Wolves man, who has yet to make a Premier League start for United, is wanted by Terriers boss Danny Cowley as he tries to steer Town away from the Championship drop zone.

Blades boss Chris Wilder revealed on Thursday that the 32-year-old was among a number of players who could move on during the January transfer window.

He said: "If we receive bids for anyone then we'll assess them and do what's right for the club.”

The defender is the second-most experienced player in United’s ranks in terms of Premier League appearances but has fallen behind John Egan in the pecking order at Bramall Lane.

He joined the club in July 2017 from Fulham and has also starred for Ipswich Town and Leicester City in a 15-year playing career.
