The England international pushed to leave The Emirates on a temporary basis to gain more first-team football, ahead of this summer's European Championships.

Sam Allardyce's men are also looking to complete the signing of Turkish midfielder Okay Yokuslu from Celta Vigo ahead of tomorrow's game at Bramall Lane, which pits second-bottom West Brom against bottom club United.

“We have until 11pm, I think we will try between now and 11pm to try to find two more players who are available," Allardyce said.

“It’s not just the player, it’s also what finances are left. Time is running out but we have spent quite a considerable amount of our budget that was available.

“If we can’t get the right player in then there’s no point getting a player in who won’t improve the first team.”
