Sheffield United's players await the results of their latest coronavirus tests
Sheffield United’s players have undergone their latest round of Covid-19 tests, after returning to training at the Steelphalt Academy.
Although only small-sided sessions are permitted by rules designed to limit the spread of the virus, every member of Bramall Lane’s first team squad, together with manager Chris Wilder and his coaching staff, must be screened at least twice a week in order to comply with Premier League regulations.
After providing their first set of swabs before Tuesday’s work-out, staff acting on behalf of Prenetics - the company tasked with coordinating the procedures - returned to the complex in Shirecliffe this morning.
Prenetics, who are based in Hong Kong, are also working with another firm called TDL - who are performing a similar role for the Bundesliga. The consortium is being advised by experts from the University of Birmingham.
United were seventh in the table when competition was suspended in March.
