Sheffield United's move for £26m star could be scuppered by Premier League rivals

Emmanuel Dennis is a name that by now should be familiar with Sheffield United supporters, after the Club Brugge striker was continually linked with a move to Bramall Lane over the course of the January transfer window.

The Nigeria international made a name for himself by scoring a brace at the Bernabeu to help his side secure a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid earlier in the season, and gave Manchester United's Harry Maguire a night to forget with a dazzling display in the Europa League back in February.

Dennis' talents haven't failed to attract additional admirers throughout the course of the season, and now Belgian media reports have claimed that Newcastle United are eager to secure his services when the transfer window re-opens.

Big-money flop Joelinton, whose dismal tally of three goals for the season has cost his club over £13m a pop, has done little to prove himself worthy of a starting spot next season, and it appears that Dennis has been earmarked as a quality replacement.

Meanwhile, the Blades continue to be linked with new signings, with the club's Premier League status seeing them become a more attractive proposition for potential suitors. Most recently, Olympiacos duo Pape Abou Cisse and Omar Elabdellaoui were said to be on United's radar.
