The Welsh international barely featured for the Cherries as they slid out of the top flight, as he recovered from injury.

And, speaking ahead of tonight's clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Brooks said: "I think being in the Premier League – I had a full season and then got injured. From my point of view, it was cut a bit short for myself.

“I was disappointed I couldn’t really factor in last year, so I am desperate to get back in the Premier League and hopefully it’s with Bournemouth.

“Everyone wants to be playing at the big, nice stadiums and on the big occasions hopefully, when the crowds are back in.

“We are all working towards that and, with the squad we’ve got, we’ve got a really good chance.”

The Warrington-born forward joined United's youth set-up after being released by Manchester City as a youngster, and joined then-Premier League Bournemouth in the summer of 2018.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has kept tabs on Brooks since reluctantly sanctioning that sale, and is thought likely to try and persuade the Bramall Lane board to sanction a move for him in January.

Bournemouth are understood to value Brooks at around £30m, which Wilder is understood to see as good value for a player who has proven he can shine in the Premier League before injuries hit.
