Sheffield United's Jack Robinson transfer stance clarified after Blades linked with shock Birmingham City return bid
Jack Robinson is not being lined up for a sensational return to Sheffield United in January, The Star has been told, despite reports that the Blades could offer their former skipper a loan exit from Birmingham City. The 32-year-old’s association with United came to an end in the summer.
He joined the Blues late on deadline day after a glut of incoming defenders pushed him down the pecking order under then-Blades boss Ruben Selles. Robinson initially began well at St. Andrew’s, with a man-of-the-match display in one of his early games.
But it has been tough for the former Liverpool man of late, with two red cards in his last three appearances seeing him lose his place after he returned from the subsequent four-match ban. His name was back in the headlines earlier today when he was linked, by Football Insider, with an eye-raising January loan move back to Bramall Lane.
But multiple sources close to United have since poured cold water on the suggestion and, at least as things stand, it is not thought to be an option that is being considered ahead of a big January for the Blades.

A new defender may well be on boss Chris Wilder’s wishlist, especially if one - or both - of loan stoppers Tyler Bindon and Ben Godfrey return to their parent clubs, Nottingham Forest and Atalanta respectively.
But that is not likely to be Robinson, who has not been able to regain his place in Chris Davies’ side since returning from suspension as the Blues lifted themselves to the fringes of the top six.
“Jack is one of those where, if you see him around day-to-day, he’s got those leadership skills,” Davies said of the former United skipper recently. “He’s got the respect of people for what he’s achieved in the game, the longevity of his career and who he is.
“As he’s admitted himself, there are unfortunate mistakes that have been made and he’s completely owned those. I’m sure he’s keen to get back on the pitch and put them to bed. From our point of view, we’ve drawn a line under that. He’s someone who trains well every day.
