The Bluebirds were in front through Josh Murphy and Robert Glatzel but were pegged back by Mark Bowen’s side who pulled themselves into the game and forced extra time after goals from Omar Richards and Andy Rinomhota.

Murphy scored again to fire Cardiff back into the lead in the early stages of extra time but Yakou Méïté equalised to take the epic tie into a penalty shoot out, where Reading prevailed 4-1.
