Speaking at his press conference ahead of his side's Champions League clash against RB Leipzig, via Sky Sports, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho confirmed that star forward Son Heung-min would miss the rest of a season, ahead of surgery for the fractured arm injury he sustained against Aston Villa last weekend.

The Portuguese coach said: "We have to recover from broken hearts...are we going to give up or are we going to fight? ...We are going to fight."

As things stand, Spurs sit just one point ahead of United in fifth place, while Chelsea are two points ahead of the Blades in fourth.

With Harry Kane already out until the summer, Spurs are likely to be without a recognised striker for the remainder of the campaign, with youngster Troy Parrot among the youth players who could be drafted in to fill the void.

United, who have a favourable run of fixtures ahead of them, could well benefit from their divisional rivals' lack of firepower upfront, in a dramatic season where Manchester City's expulsion from the Champions League will mean a top-five finish is enough to qualify.

The Blades face Mourinho’s side at the start of April at Bramall Lane, and a win for Chris Wilder’s side could go a long way to securing their place among Europe’s elite for the 2020/21 campaign.
