SHEFFIELD United have announced that Danny Wilson has left the club.

The city had swirled with rumours on social media sites that Sheffield United were about to part company with their manager and sources were suggesting that a decision had been made.

Confirmation came through just before 10pm.

First team coach Chris Morgan will take temporary charge of the Blades for the remainder of the 2012-13 campaign, starting with Saturday’s home encounter with Swindon Town.

Assistant manager Frank Barlow has also left the club.

Blades owner Kevin McCabe commented: “We must thank Danny and Frank for all their endeavours and hard work over the past two seasons.

“We now have a mini season for this club to achieve success and we will all back Chris in this mission.”

Sheffield United has purposefully waited for conclusions to talks on Wednesday evening before making this announcement. More to follow on Thursday.

Wilson had been in charge of the Blades less than two seasons having led them to the League One Play-off Final last season when they were beaten on penalties by Huddersfield.

They currently are fifth, six points off second-placed Bournemouth with two games in hand.
