Despite dominating the majority of the contest and deservedly taking a 2-0 lead, Wilder's side found themselves staring defeat in the face when Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side scored three times in the space of seven minutes.

But with only seconds remaining, United snatched an equaliser when substitute Oli McBurnie fired home past David de Gea. The result left the hosts, who returned to the top-flight following a 12 year absence last term, sixthn in the Premier League table.

"You know what they're like, they've got so much about them," Wilder said. "They come in the front door and they leave through the front door. It's the scoreline that counts at the end of the day but, for most of the time, we were right up there in terms of performance."

Despite selecting the likes of Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford, Solskjær admitted his team had been second best until Brandon William's strike set in motion a dranatic chain of events which also saw Mason Greenwood and Rashford pounce in qjuick succession. But McBurnie, who replaced the injured Mousset, ensured earlier efforts from the Frenchman and John Fleck did not go entirely without reward.

Wilder, who was without John Egan and Dean Henderson, said: You have to take cruel blows on the chin. I saw an equaliser coming though, I really did. Then we had a decision whether to shut up shop or to go for it. I said to Knilly (assistant manager Alan Knill) 'sit down big ginger lad, we're going to go for it.'"

Mousset hobbled-off soon after claiming his fourth goal of the campaign and will undergo a scan to determine the extent of a suspected hamstring problem, ahead of United's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

"You've got to give them (Manchester United) credit for coming back, as much as we fought ourselves back to get something," Wilder said. "You saw, from my point of view, close up what can happen when they flick the light and say 'yes', which they did for 10 minutes. So we'll look at ourselves as well."
