Mousset was named star man in the Sky-televised game against the Red Devils, after making a goal and scoring another in a pulsating 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane.

The French striker didn’t receive his award on the evening of the game, and so Sky presented it to him the following evening as he joined teammates and manager Chris Wilder to open the new Blades store in the Meadowhall shopping centre.

Sky enlisted a young fan, known only as Amelia, to do the honours - and Mousset then left her speechless by gifting her the trophy.

The emotional moment was captured on film by United's media staff and shared on Twitter, where fans were quick to praise Mousset's generosity.

"What a class act from a class man - just brilliant," said Derek Pocknell.

"Outstanding from Lys there," added Pete Turner, while Aaron Walton said: "Proper club, who don’t forget the fans. Well done Blades."

Mousset has emerged as a firm fans' favourite at the Lane, following his summer move from AFC Bournemouth for a club-record fee at the time. His goal against Manchester United, beating David De Gea from outside the box, was his fourth in as many starts for the Blades.

United will hope he is fit for Sunday’s game at Wolves, after limping off against the Red Devils with a tight hamstring.
