The Referee: Martin Atkinson, from West Yorkshire, averages 2.74 cautions per game so far this season. This will be the first time he has overseen a match involving United since they were promoted from the Championship last term. He did take charge of Wolves’ 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Molineux in December, when the visitors’ goalkeeper Ederson was sent-off only 12 minutes into the contest. Jonathan Moss, who refereed United’s meeting with AFC Bournemouth in February, is scheduled to be the VAR official, assisted by Neil Davies.

The Form Guide: Wolves travel to South Yorkshire on the back of a defeat by Arsenal; their first since competition resumed following the Covid-19 pandemic last month. Before then they had beaten West Ham, AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa - scoring four goals and conceding none in the process. They are unbeaten away from home in league competition since New Year’s Day, when Watford triumphed 2-1 at Vicarage Road. United won their most recent outing at Bramall Lane; last week’s 3-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur. They drew 1-1 at Burnley on Sunday.

The Last Time Out: Lys Mousset opened the scoring, claiming his fifth goal in United colours, after only two minutes of December’s contest at Molineux before Matt Doherty replied in the 64th minute to ensure the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. Wolves enjoyed more possession (59 per cent) and more attempts on goal during the game, but United mustered more shots on target (4) than the opposition. Five United players - John Egan, Jack O’Connell, George Baldock, John Fleck and Enda Stevens - were cautioned by referee David Coote.
