We’ll have live updates of the key moments from the game right here in one place on the live blog.
Blades U23s chase national title against Birmingham City LIVE
And that’s full time
A disappointing afternoon for the Blades as they fall at the final hurdle - they simply never got going and couldn’t recover from the body blow of going two goals down in the first 15 minutes. City goalkeeper Basey was hardly tested in terms of shots to save and Dewhurst was far busier in the home goal - they’ll now have to see City lift the trophy on their own turf
Shouts for a penalty
as Gordon is bundled over at the back post, nothing given and the defender is absolutely incensed as he screams at the linesman
Off the post
from Graham as he gets his head to Osula’s cross, the Birmingham goalkeeper looked to be in two minds whether to save it or leave it and he will have been a relieved man to see it hit the outside of his post and rebound to safety
Let off for the Blades
as sub Andrews gets the better of Graham in the box and looks to find Simmonds in the box, but his pass isn’t strong enough and it’s cut out
Break in play
as Reid takes some treatment on the left, United have 15 minutes to find two goals to take this game to extra time - Reid is now off, Josh Andrews replacing him
Neal blocks well
as Reid was played through in acres of space and cut onto his right foot, the Blades skipper got in the way to block but it was another warning from the home side as the clock ticks over the hour mark...
Another chance for City
as the lively George wriggles his way between Gordon and Gomis and shoots from a tight angle, Dewhurst is down smartly to block it behind and the corner comes to nothing
Early chance for the visitors
as George again causes problems for the United defence and the ball falls kindly to Reid, but he scuffs his shot a little and it flies wide of Dewhurst’s goal
Half-time subs for the Blades
as Hackford and Maguire replace Brooks and Ayari, the second half is underway
