Sheffield United have been heavily linked with a new forward over the past few weeks, as they look to find a clinical attacking threat to finish off the wealth of chances they've created this season.

A fresh report from Sky Sports has claimed that Brentford will demand a fee in the region of £25 million for their in-form forward Ollie Watkins, who has excelled in the Bees' front-line since switching position to replace Neal Maupay over the summer.

The Eagles have scored just 15 goals in 17 league games this season, and the likely departure of Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha in the new year will require them to sign a quality replacement.

The report suggests that as Brentford are confident of pushing for a play-off place this season, they'll be resistant to part company with their star player, who has scored 13 goals in the 2019/20 campaign thus far.

While United have wowed fans and pundits alike with their stirring displays in the first half of the season, their attackers - Lys Mousset aside - have scored just four goals between them, and Watkins could certainly add some fierce competition to partner the former Bournemouth striker.

Meanwhile, Chris Wilder is also understood to have a keen interest in Everton defender Mason Holgate, as he looks to secure another flexible player capable of slotting into his back line.
