Sheffield United transfer news: Key Blades ace wants summer exit on one condition, Southampton facing double blow

Sheffield United will be looking to avoid a third successive defeat when they face Everton on Sunday evening.

The Blades are coming towards the end of their time in the Premier League, and have just two matches left after travel to Goodison Park this weekend.

But despite the summer quickly approaching, United are still no closer to appointing a permanent successor to ex-manager Chris Wilder, and interim boss Paul Heckingbottom has admitted that the state of limbo is beginning to have an effect on his dressing room.

Speaking in a press conference, he said: "There’s bound to be uncertainty, especially when you think that for a long period of time we had absolute certainty. But it will sort itself out soon enough, and then it’s properly sorted.

“We don’t know the appointment. No one does. But in terms of how we work, we can’t worry about that.

“Futures are up in the air.

“Players want to know, of course they do. I would if I was one of them.

“They’ll be wondering who it is going to be, who will be picking the team and if they are their type of player.

“But it won’t have a bearing on the future of the club. It will come in the close season, and then we can hit the ground running.”

Next up for the Blades after they face Everton is a trip to Tyneside for a clash with Newcastle United, followed a final day showdown with Burnley.
