Sheffield United transfer news: Ex-Blade backs 'crazy' boss for job, Pundit hypes up potential £15m exit
Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has claimed that Neil Lennon would be a good candidate to replace Chris Wilder on a permanent basis.
The Blades are currently under the guidance of Paul Heckingbottom, but the ex-Leeds boss is expected to vacate his role at Bramall Lane at the end of the campaign.
Lennon emerged as one of the early front-runners to step in for United when Wilder left the club earlier this season after having parted company with Celtic shortly prior.
And Kenny, who worked alongside the Northern Irishman at Bolton Wanderers, believes that he could be a good fit for the Blades.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I think you know what you’re gonna get with him. He wears his heart on his sleeve. Crazy as anything.
“They’re a team that are looking to bounce back up and he’s a good option.
“He did really well with us at Bolton. We looked like we were going to go down and he took over and saved us.
“They could definitely do worse.
“He’s really strict. He reminds me a bit of Warnock where he was strict but you can have a bit of a laugh with him as well.”
Lennon won five Scottish Premiership titles over two spells at Parkhead, and has a career win percentage of 58.4%.
Elsewhere, Wolves legend Steve Bull has claimed that Oli McBurnie could prove to be a shrewd signing for his old club.
The Sheffield United striker has been linked with a £15 million summer move to Molineux, as per The Scottish Sun.
Despite having only scored one goal in 23 top flight appearances this term, Bull has argued that the Scot could do a job for Wanderers.
Speaking to Transfer Tavern, he said: “I wouldn’t say he would be a waste of money because he’s a decent striker who will score goals, and he might turn out to be a vital player that comes off the bench and scores.
“I think chairman and owners have got money coming out of their ears and they just seem to always find money from somewhere, so if they want to pay it then they’ll find money from somewhere and get him on board.”
