Despite Sheffield United’s poor league position, there is still plenty of talk surrounding the summer window…

In the meantime, however, Chris Wilder believes the lack of scrutiny surrounding the decision not to award his Sheffield United team a penalty towards the end of their defeat at Fulham vindicates his decision not to seek an explanation from the match officials.

He said: “We didn’t try to ask or appeal it, if you know what I mean, because we’ll be out of the division,” he said. “I didn’t ask (about it) too much afterwards, because it wouldn’t change anything and nothing would happen anyway. We’ve been in this position before and got nowhere.”

Wilder has also insisted Sheffield United are obliged to keep fighting “until the very last game” despite requiring a miracle to avoid being relegated from the Premier League.

“No matter what happens, this is a group that fights and puts it all in. That’s what we do and that’s what we’ve got to carry on doing. That’s what I’ll be doing and that’s what I know these lads will be doing too.”

“There’s always something to fight for,” Wilder added. “It doesn’t matter if it’s points, pride or whatever, there’s always a reason to go out there and give it everything. In fact, because we are professionals, there doesn’t even need to be one. That, fighting, comes with the territory. It’s what you do.”
