Sheffield United transfer news: Aston Villa join battle for big-money Blades ace, ex-Bournemouth boss could join divisional rivals
Sheffield United are still working away on securing transfer targets behind the scenes, as the Blades look to bolster their squad and hit the ground running when the new season begins.
While a number of players were released at the end of last season, United are yet to bring in any fresh recruits, but new manager Slavisa Jokanovic is bound to bring in some players ahead of the 2021/22 Championship campaign getting underway in August.
The club are understood to be pursuing moves for two new centre-halves to address a lack of quality cover for key men John Egan and Chris Basham, and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dion Sanderson, who spent last season on loan with Sunderland, is understood to be among the Blades key targets.
Meanwhile, England's Euro 2020 journey continues when they face the Czech Republic on Tuesday, and ex-England star Alan Shearer has been full of praise for Blades stopper Aaron Ramsdale, who was brought into the squad to replace Man Utd's Dean Henderson.
Shearer said: “He’s already got a wealth of experience at the top level. He’s got the fifth most appearances by a ‘keeper under 23 in Premier League history.
“For me, Ramsdale, he’s got lots of potential. He’s strong, he’s got the agility to stop shots from distance and he’s fearless, putting his body on the line from close range.”
