Sheffield United: '˜These boys will continue top six fight right until the bitter end'

United are ninth in the table, three points behind sixth with three matches remaining, following last weekend’s draw with Millwall.

Evans, who joined Chris Wilder’s side from Wolves in January, said: “We’ve shown countless times here that we don’t give up and how strong we are as a group. That’s one of the things that has really struck me since I came here; just how together everybody is, and that makes you dangerous. It’s a powerful thing to have.”

Evans, who scored his first two goals for United when Middlesbrough were beaten at Bramall Lane earlier this month, added: “That (match) summed it up perfectly. They came right back at us, credit to them, but we dug-in and saw the job through. That was a psychological test passed and it gives you an insight into the character of the lads here.

“It doesn’t matter what the situation is, there is no way we will ever throw the towel in. Never. We just keep on going.”

United, who relinquished the lead against Neil Harris’ team after Leon Clarke had edged them in front, return to action at Birmingham City this afternoon. Richard Stearman is expected to feature after recovering from a hamstring injury. Garry Monk, Wilder’s counterpart at St Andrews, will be without the suspended Harlee Dean.

“The lads have done ever so well,” the United manager said. “But we want to take this right down to the wire.”
