Both players missed last weekend’s trip to West Bromwich Albion last weekend, when Conor Gallagher’s first-half goal condemned United to their ninth defeat in 10 outings this season.

A Wales international, coaching staff believe the youngster’s athleticism can reinvigorate a midfield which has appeared a little pedestrian since competition resumed in September, while he also provides cover for a defence which has borne the brunt of United’s injury issues of late.
Ampadu damaged a hip during the recent meeting with West Ham, and failed a fitness test ahead of the match at The Hawthorns.
With Stevens also ruled out of that contest after receiving a knock at Chelsea last month, United handed Kean Bryan his league debut in the Midlands - two years after signing him from Manchester City. Wilder had deployed Stevens at centre-half in west London, as he searched for a solution to the problem caused by the loss of Jack O’Connell (knee).
