Sheffield United supporters have their say on where Blades need to strengthen and how much will be spent on transfers in The Star's big fans' survey

When he gets his feet under the table in the manager’s office at Bramall Lane, once the welcome interviews are out of the way and he has had chance to reacquaint himself with life back in England, Slavisa Jokanović will want to hit the ground running in his bid to mastermind an instant return to the Premier League for Sheffield United.

Inevitably, there will be tough decisions and discussions to be made and had. Some members of United’s remarkable journey in recent years, which was derailed by relegation next season, may be moved on; others may be kept on, but have their roles changed or diluted a little. Such is football, and such is life.

The good news for Jokanović is that the squad he inherits may not need too much major surgery. That’s certainly the view of the Blades supporters polled in our big fans’ survey, with just over 92.2 per cent of respondents believing that the club needs six or fewer additions this summer (34.7 per cent one to three signings, 57.5 per cent four to six).

Almost 70 per cent of fans believe the Blades need to prioritise central midfielders in their recruitment drive, and they don’t expect that summer business to come cheap either – 41.8 per cent say that United need to spend between £10m and £15m this summer and just over 35 per cent voted for £20m+.

Not many can see it happening, though; asked how much they thought United would actually spend, 35 per cent said £5-10m.
