Wing-back Enda Stevens, who lashed home the opening goal before Neal Maupay’s equaliser, didn’t reappear for the second half after being replaced by Ben Osborn, although he was later spotted taking his place on the bench.

Boss Chris Wilder later revealed that Stevens suffered a tight calf towards the end of the first half, and was not risked for the second half.

“We’ll assess him but hopefully he’s not out for too long,” Wilder said after the 1-1 draw with Graham Potter’s Brighton.

“He’s an important player for us. I thought Ben stepped in and did well when he came onto the pitch but losing Enda was a bit of a blow for us.

“But we’re not a group to moan and groan about injuries. We get on with it. But hopefully he’s not out for too long.”
