SHEFFIELD United are set to press ahead with their efforts to overhaul Danny Wilson’s first -team squad after the manager added another name to his list of summer transfer targets.
The Star understands Wilson, who is monitoring Hibernian’s David Wotherspoon and former Leeds defender Ben Parker, has expressed an interest in Wycombe Wanderers forward Stuart Beavon.
But, contrary to reports, the 28-year-old has not agreed a transfer to Bramall Lane, with events at Adams Park likely to prolong the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Millwall and at least one other Championship club are also known to be keen on prising Beavon away from Buckinghamshire after he netted 25 goals for Gary Waddock’s side last term.
Wanderers, whose chairman could shortly hand over the reins to a supporters’ trust, were relegated from League One in April.
Parker is free to hold talks with prospective new employers - Scunthorpe are among those likely to challenge United for his services should Wilson press ahead - after his contract at Elland Road was terminated by mutual consent.
However the path to Wotherspoon’s signature could prove more complicated.
Pat Fenlon, Wilson’s counterpart at Easter Road, expected to review the Scotland under-21 international’s situation this weekend.
