Few would have predicted the cult hero status Sheffield United's John Lundstram would have acquired before the 2019/20 season began, but the former Oxford United man has become a global sensation after excelling in the online game 'Fantasy Premier League' this season.

After being incorrectly categorised as a defender – and a bargain one at that - rather than a midfielder, the 25-year-old has been racking up the points for goals, assists and clean sheets - achievements that defenders score more highly for than other positions.

Discussing his rise to fame with FPL, Lunny said: "It (FPL fan reaction) is a bit mental. I get so many messages about it. All the lads have started calling me 'Lord', it's weird.

"But no, it's funny, it's a bit of banter isn't it? It's a good one to see. Didsy calls me 'Lord'."

Lundstram was also tasked with naming three Blades players that FPL managers should select for their sides.

He suggested: "I've got to be in it haven't I? I'm down as a defender, so I've got to be one. Flecky (John Fleck) is flying isn't he? So, got to say Flecky. Me, Flecky and Mouss (Lys Mousset)
