Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, the Blades star opened up on the struggle of seeing the season suspended for an extended period of time, and said: "For me personally, I'm just chomping at the bit, and I'm sure every footballer feels the same at the moment, but we're no clearer as to when the season's going to restart."

"There's a lot more serious stuff going on at this moment in time, but personally I think about it (the season returning) every single day.

"It's all I've known since I was six-years-old, is to play football, so it's a bit difficult at the moment not to have that goal, and not to go into training every day. You miss the dressing room - I can only begin to imagine what it'll be like when I come to retire, it's going to be tough."

He added, jokingly: "I suppose this will make me carry on as long as I can to keep going in because I don't really enjoy being at home much to be honest!"

The midfielder went on to express his gratitude for the extra time he's been able to spend with his family during the coronavirus lockdown. He explained: "I've got a three-year-old little boy, so he's keeping me and my wife busy. He's charging around and fortunately the weather's been great for the last couple of days so we've been out in the garden.

"He's loving not having to go to nursery and he's buzzing and happy just being home with his mum and dad, and he's keeping us busy, so it keeps you on your toes and it's great to spend some time with him because we (footballers) do miss a lot of that time when we're away in hotels and playing games.

"We miss out on quite a lot of family time, so it's been nice to have some time with my wife and little boy."
