Sheffield United & Spurs' intriguing wins-per-£-spent rating in the Premier League table

The temptation of splashing the cash in the Premier League has cost numerous sides in the past before, with big-money signings failing to live up to the hype, and squads packed with new players struggling to gel under the pressure of top-tier football.

Amid the financial uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, football clubs across the pyramid have been a little more cautious with their spending this season, but we've still seen a fair few high profile deals go through.

This is where Sheffield United rank in the Premier League' s wins-per-pound-spent table, which looks (via Transfermarkt) at how much each club has invested in their current squad, and divides the total amount by the number of victories this season.
