But in the mix of it all, there was perhaps some transfer gossip that had gone under the radar.
Speculation surrounding Sander Berge’s future is never too far away as the Norwegian continues to be linked with Liverpool.
As reported elsewhere, the Reds are said to have identified Berge as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnladium, who looks set to join Barcelona at the end of the season.
Indeed, these claims have also been backed up by Voetbal 24, who says Jurgen Klopp is “absolutely convinced” by the 23-year-old’s ability.
They also add that the Blades will apparently demand around £25million for his services.
Prince Abdullah has revealed the plan is to keep as many players as possible next season as he eyes an immediate return to the Premier League, though admitted some do have 'clauses' in their contracts.
"Some of the players have a clause in their contracts that if they have a certain offer they can leave," he said.
"So we keep the core of the team, but if we get an offer to sell a player and don't have a replacement we will bring in a replacement.
"We are not only selling players. If we sell players, we will bring players in.
"But our intention is to keep the core players and get back to the Premier League.
"Staying in the Championship will not make us any money and is not the right place for the club."
Meanwhile, the Blades have been credited with an interest in Cardiff City midfielder Will Vaulks, though any move is dependent on the new manager.
Vaulks, according to the Daily Mail, was a target for Chris Wilder. Norwich City are looking to take advantage while the Blades focus on finding a new manager.
The former Rotherham United midfielder is likely to cost around £7million.
