The Blades’ shirts from the victory over the Cherries featured a special ‘Heads Up’ badge on the sleeve, and they were all auctioned after the season – which saw Chris Wilder’s men finish ninth in the Premier League – finally ended.

The shirts raised a total of £4,583 for mental health charity partners Heads Together, Mind and CALM.

All the 18 shirts of United’s matchday squad began with a bid of £100, with skipper Billy Sharp’s jersey raising the most with a final bid of £660.

Dean Henderson’s shirt fetched the second-highest amount, of £460, while Sander Berge’s raised £390.

The Heads Up campaign ran throughout last season, shining a much-needed spotlight on the issue of mental health which too often goes under the radar.
