Plymouth Argyle manager - and Sheffield Wednesday legend - John Sheridan admits he is looking forward to seeing what reception he receives from Sheffield United fans when his side visit Bramall Lane this weekend.
Sheridan made almost 250 appearances for Wednesday as a player, and was in the Owls side which beat United in the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley in 1993. He also scored the goal which saw Wednesday beat Manchester United and lift the League Cup two years earlier.
“United fans are real good supporters - likewise with Sheffield Wednesday,” Sheridan said.
““They get right behind the team and support them through thick and thin.
“I don’t think many of them will remember me because it was quite a long time ago!
“Those (Sheffield) derby games were special. It was a good rivalry and it was always tough at Bramall Lane.”
“The rivalry was, and is, very fierce,” Sheridan, pictured right, continued.
“The clubs don’t get on.
“But if there are one or two shouting at me I will just have a little laugh and a joke with it and remind them about the semi-final.”
