Sheffield United have today confirmed the signing of Simon Moore from Cardiff City.

The 26-year-old shot stopper is expected to make his debut against Millwall tomorrow after agreeing a long-term contract at Bramall Lane.

Here are seven things you might not know about the Blades newest recruit.

1. He was born in Sandown on the Isle of Wight on May 19, 1990.

2. As a youngster he was signed by the Southampton academy but was released by the club for being too small.

3. Moore (6 ft 3 in) is one inch smaller than the current Blades number one George Long (6 ft 4 in).

4. He played a key roll in Brentford reaching the playoff final in 2013 when he saved a penalty against Swindon Town during a shootout in the semi-final.

5. In the same season he also featured in goal for The Bees when they drew 2-2 with then European Champions Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round.

6. In 2009 Moore represented the Isle of Wight in the Island Games.

7. He shares the same birthday as actor Peter Mayhew, who is famed for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars film series.
