Sheffield United could be missing three key players at Gillingham this afternoon.
Nigel Clough revealed last night that Stefan Scougall (knee) has been ruled-out of the League One fixture due to a knee injury sustained during Tuesday’s FA Cup defeat by Preston North End.
The United manager, who admitted it is “still far too early to say” how long the Scotland under-21 international will be absent, also confirmed that Ryan Flynn (Achilles) and Michael Higdon (hamstring) are rated as major doubts for the visit to Priestfield.
“Stefan took a knock,” Clough said. “We’ll probably know more next week when it settles down a bit.
“Ryan has been struggling with his Achilles for a while now and Michael felt a tightness in his hamstring during the final training session before the Preston match.
“So, for him, an eight hour round trip on a coach might not be the ideal thing.”
