Sheffield United rumours: Blades plot transfer swoop for international forward, race for Crystal Palace job intensifies

Sheffield United play their penultimate game of their 2020/21 Premier League this evening, when travel north to take on Steve Bruce's Newcastle United at St James' Park.

It's a bit of a free hit for both sides, with the Blades already relegated, and the Magpies safe from the drop with time to spare after a strong tail-end of the season.

Speaking ahead of the game, Blades caretaker manager Paul Heckingbottom was quizzed on how striker Rhian Brewster, who is yet to score for United, reacted to his teammate Daniel Jebbison scoring on his full Premier League debut, and claimed: “Rhian is pleased we won. No-one celebrated more than him, or wished everyone well before the game as much as Rhian. He’s great in that respect, fantastic, but he also wants to play.

“He wants that to be him getting his first goal, and we’d all love Rhian to get his first goal. Hopefully he does before the end of the season.

“If he gets the opportunity, why not let that gee him on and inspire him? Because if it happens, everyone will celebrate it just as much as they did with Jebbo.”

Heckingbottom also likened Jebbison's movement to that of a "baby giraffe", claiming the 17-year-old still needs to develop physically to become a top quality forward in the future.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Sheffield United and the rest of the Premier League, as the build-up to this weekend's action begins:
