Sheffield United have been warned Chesterfield will go for the jugular at the Proact Stadium this afternoon.
But Paul Cook, the home side’s manager, acknowledged Nigel Clough’s squad possess the experience to cope with what is expected to be a white-hot atmosphere.
“We’ll certainly take the game to Sheffield United,” Cook said last night. “It should be a great occasion for the area.
“We’re not only playing a good team and one of the favourites, we’re playing a club steeped in tradition, a big club and, in Nigel Clough, they’ve got a big manager. The game won’t phase them.”
Cook, who led Chesterfield to promotion from League Two last term, added: “This is a special game because it’s a derby match against a big city rival who have a tremendous history and are a fantastic club.”
