The Blades wonderkid has two caps to him name and will be hoping to show off his stunning talents on the world stage after impressing in the Championship with United.

Ndiaye is joined by a host of well-known players, including former Liverpool star Sadio Mane who has been named in the panel despite picking up an injury while playing for Bayern Munich earlier this week.

As well as Mane, Senegal have Chelsea’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy, Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, Cheikhou Kouyate of Nottingham Forest, Leicester City's Nampalys Mendy, Tottenham's Pape Matar Sarr, QPR keeper Seny Dieng and Watford striker Ismaila Sarr.

The Lions of Teranga will kick off their campaign against Holland on November 21 and also face host Quatar and Equador in a group that they will fancy their chances of progressing from.

Upon announcing the call-up Sheffield United released a tribute to their star turn, featuring a very young Ndiaye performing skills and tricks in his formative years before he made the move to England, first with Boreham Wood and then the Blades.

Some United players waited by the door on an office in Shirecliffe as Ndiaye awaited news of whether he had made the squad, with John Egan and Reda Khadra among the first to congratulate their team mate.

United manager Paul Heckingbottom said on Thursday - on the then presumption that his player would get the call from Senegal - that Ndiaye’s push onto the main stage and that of Adam Davies’ who has been called into the Wales squad should be shouted about more by the club.

Gareth Southgate’s England squad also featured Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Aaron Ramsdale - all three of whom came through United’s famed academy.

“Us, as a club, we should shout about it. Rhys [Norrington-Davies] should be going too if he hadn’t got hurt and he was brought through here.

“Yes, we should definitely shout about that. It shows the success and the track record here. We should use that to highlight attention and then bring the next ones in.”
