Sheffield United will unveil details of a pre-season visit to Scotland when their new manager is officially installed at Bramall Lane.

As The Star reported last month, the League One club have elected against basing themselves in Malta ahead of the 2013/14 campaign despite spending the last three summers on the Mediterranean island.

Instead, members of United’s football coaching department have spent the past five weeks holding talks with a variety of teams north of the border after receiving invites from prospective opponents at both SPL and SFL level.

However, details of the programme are expected to be kept under-wraps until Danny Wilson’s successor is installed.

With United scheduled to return to competitive action on August 3, their first team squad have been told they must report for duty at the end of this month.

The first round of the Capital One Cup is set to take place during the week commencing Monday 5 August.

United’s relationship with Malta, which can be traced back to a pioneering sponsorship deal with brokered with its tourism authority five years ago, remains “strong” according to sources in both countries.
